Maarten Vink was interviewed in regional newspaper De Limburger to comment on a plea for regional and national voting rights for non-citizen residents in the Netherlands. Maarten argued that voting rights are important but at national level should remain linked to citizenship. What is important, he argues, is that the access to citizenship is facilitated by abolishing the requirement that people who wish to naturalise renounce their previous citizenship(s).
